How to travel safely around the world

Your insurance cover is valid worldwide, which is ideal if you're taking your pet on holiday with you. With the 'Recovery & Rescue' add-on, you're fully covered in the Swiss mountains and the great outdoors. If your dog gets stuck on rough terrain after an accident or your cat gets trapped in a tree, we’ll cover the costs in an emergency.

Overview of pet insurance

You can tailor our pet insurance to your pet’s needs in just a few clicks:

  • Max. annual insured costs for accident and illness

    Sum insured:
    You can easily set your maximum compensation for treatment. Choose from 1,000 Swiss francs up to an unlimited sum insured per year.

     
    Cost coverage:

    You have complete flexibility in deciding what proportion of the vet’s fees you wish to cover yourself. Select any percentage between 20% and 100% to be covered by simpego.


    Annual excess:

    The annual excess is the amount you pay towards the insured costs per policy year. You can choose your annual excess between 0 and 10,000 Swiss francs.

  • Dental illness

    We cover the costs of treatment for dental diseases and diseases of the periodontium, including any resulting complications.

  • Preventive care budget

    Set your own annual prevention budget of up to 1,000 Swiss francs for vaccinations, neutering, tartar removal, parasite treatments, and annual health check-ups.

     

    For animals aged nine years and over, an early detection blood age test is also included.

  • Complementary medicine treatment

    Support your pet's recovery gently with hydrotherapy, homeopathy, acupuncture, physiotherapy, osteopathy or laser therapy.

  • Emergency treatment costs

    In the event of an emergency, we will cover additional treatment costs, including emergency surcharges and home visits that are medically necessary.

     

    Transport to the emergency clinic by veterinary ambulance or taxi is also covered, if necessary.

  • Veterinary diet & nutritional supplements

    You can choose to spend a maximum of 2,000 Swiss francs on veterinary food and dietary supplements per year.

  • Full cover in the event of hereditary / congenital conditions

    Rather than just 50 %, we offer 100 % cover for hereditary conditions, congenital defects and their associated complications.

  • Age check

    Health checks from the age of nine are covered by your chosen prevention budget.

  • Pre-existing conditions

    Existing conditions and initial symptoms that were apparent before the policy came into effect can be included in the cover. The only condition is that the first signs did not appear within the three months prior to the start of your policy.

  • Rescue & recovery

    If your pet is in an emergency situation, we will cover the costs of a professional rescue.

     

    The same applies if you find yourself in an emergency and have to leave your pet behind, or if your pet is trapped somewhere.

  • Emergency pet care

    If you are unexpectedly admitted to hospital, we will cover the costs of professional pet boarding or care. We will also cover the cost of additional days of care in the event of delays to your return journey from holiday through no fault of your own.

  • Worldwide protection

    With simpego, your pet is fully protected, even when travelling, because the whole world is covered.

What is not covered?

Transparency is one of our core values. The following are not covered by Simpego pet insurance, amongst other things:

  • Pre-existing conditions.
  • Illnesses that arise during the waiting period.
  • Costs relating to reproduction (e.g. pregnancy, birth, infertility, genetic testing, etc.) are not covered, nor are any resulting costs.

Neither are costs for treatments not carried out by vets, chiropractors, complementary medicine practitioners/therapists, or other recognised service providers with recognised qualifications.
